Though physically unimposing, they drain their victims not only of health but of vitality itself, sapping strength and resolve with every strike. Designed for swarming tactics and hive-minded obedience, varglith drones are rarely alone—making them a terrifying encounter for adventurers who stray too far into the dark.

Steadfast. The drone can’t be frightened while it can see an allied creature within 30 feet of it.
Actions
Quintessence Sap. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) necrotic damage, and the drone gains temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt. The target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or have its hit point maximum reduced by the total damage dealt. On a failure of 5 or more, the target suffers a -1 penalty to ability checks and attack rolls until it completes a short rest.

Quintessence Sap (occult) The drone drains spirit energy when it hits a living creature with its hand Strike. The drone gains 2 temporary Hit Points that last 1 hour and that creature must succeed at a DC 13 Fortitude saving throw or become drained 1, or its drained condition increases by 1 to a maximum of 4 if it was already drained. On a critical failure, it also becomes enfeebled 1 for 1 hour.
