Written by Claire Martin
Do you have a pet or rescue that needs tending while you’re out fighting the threats of the realm? Or perhaps you’re looking to adopt? Look no further than the Good Boy Fellowship to meet all of your animal companion’s needs!
This guild can be drag and dropped into any medieval city or town, available for 5e and Pathfinder 2.
By the way, if you're looking for more drag-and-drops like this or other 5e and PF2e resources, check out our entire collection of Lair Magazine issues. This particular guild came from the February 2024 issue of Lair Magazine, Heists & Havoc, where you can find even more game master resources!
Good Boy Fellowship - 5e
Pet Guild, chaotic good, 15-20 members
Description. The headquarters for the Good Boy Fellowship is much like a petting zoo or ranch. There is a fenced-in field where numerous creatures run free, whereas more dangerous or flighty beasts stay in kennels and cages in a barn. The Fellowship contains a full stable and pens, clearly ready to accommodate animals of any size. Sisters Aice and Bryony Periwinkle, two old ladies passionate about the furry, scaly, and feathery companions in our lives, lead this pet guild.
Interesting Discoveries. All pets at the Good Boy Fellowship are adoptable; most are rescue animals. The guild does what it can to rehabilitate and release creatures back into the wild, but if the beast has a disease or a handicap that prevents them from surviving alone, they remain safe at the Fellowship until adoption.
This guild is always looking for volunteers to help with the animals. They accept food and equipment donations, aid in feeding the animals or cleaning the facilities, and help with playing and socializing with the more aggressive animals to help them find a forever home. Volunteers can become guild members if they commit to ongoing volunteering or donations.
NPCs
Most Fellowship guild members are people who have been volunteers for years because of their love for animals.
Aice Periwinkle
Female gnome, chaotic good
Description. Aice Periwinkle is an old, gnomish lady with white hair in a bun, half-moon spectacles on her tiny nose, and a hand-knitted blue shawl. She is fearless for her small size and recklessly kind to all she meets. She has a penchant for the macabre and finds the traditionally “scary” or “creepy” animals (and people!) to be cute. She loves tarantulas, rats, bats, snakes, and the like.
Occupation. Aice and her twin sister Bryony co-founded the Good Boy Fellowship after they retired from their adventuring careers. Aice is the smarter of the two, so she does the bookkeeping, inventory, and general guild management.
Secret. One will often see Aice talking to herself; however, she’s conversing with an evil demon-like entity trapped in her mind that she has nicknamed “Fluffy.” Aice is convinced she can convert Fluffy to be good by killing him with kindness.
Bryony Periwinkle
Female gnome, neutral good
Description. Bryony is an old gnomish lady who puts colorful ribbons in her untamed white hair and dresses in leather and fur. Although she retired her trusty maul, she still uses it occasionally as a threatening device. She is boisterous, kindhearted, and acts like she can still do anything despite her age (though this has caused a few injuries in recent years).
Occupation. Bryony and her twin sister Aice co-founded the Good Boy Fellowship after they retired from their adventuring careers. Bryony is the wiser and stronger of the two, so she balances out Aice’s naivety and blind trust in people. She can also wrestle an unruly animal to the ground when needed.
Secret. Bryony would never reveal this to Aice, but when they were both in their teens, Bryony remembers Aice perishing in a vicious owlbear attack. Bryony left home to become an adventurer because of her grief. They reunited decades later, quite to Bryony’s surprise, but Aice appeared to have no recollection of the attack.
